In this role, you'll make some of the most significant strategic, product, and technical decisions for money management in Asia-Pacific at Stripe. The systems this team builds let businesses and platforms integrate with Stripe once, then open accounts, move money, and issue cards across an expanding set of APAC markets and currencies, and grow across the region without rebuilding their stack for each country.

What it asks for · 6

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience and 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience taking a product or team from zero to one: a new market, a new product line, or a team you built and scaled
  • A track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers and building a high-performing, inclusive team
  • Strong technical depth to engage credibly on architecture, reliability, and tradeoffs in complex distributed systems
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to translate user and market needs into engineering priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders across time zones

Also a plus

  • Experience in payments, banking, or money movement, especially launching regulated financial products (accounts, payouts, cards, or lending) in new markets
  • Experience operating in APAC markets, including working with local banks, networks, or regulators
  • Founder, founding engineer, or early-stage startup experience
  • Experience working with distributed partner teams across US, European, and APAC time zones
  • Experience using AI tools to improve execution, quality, and team effectiveness

What the job covers

  • Lead multiple pods and grow the team.
  • Be accountable for the team's output: what ships, when, and how well it works for users.
  • Own the engineering side of a zero-to-one charter. Turn an ambiguous regional strategy into a sequenced, de-risked roadmap, make the build, integrate, or partner calls, and get launches over the line across licensing, bank and network partners, and compliance.
  • Operate as a peer owner of the business outcome alongside product, go-to-market, legal, compliance, and partnerships. Bring a product point of view, and push back when the plan is wrong.
  • Stay hands-on and in the details: read the code, review designs, use the product the way our users do, and understand how Stripe's money movement stack works end to end so you can make sound technical calls under uncertainty.
  • Build the operating system for a newly formed team: hiring, rituals, quality bar, on-call, and the processes that let the team move fast while keeping money movement safe and reliable.
  • Hire great engineers, develop them, and give direct, timely feedback.

How this page was made

An automated read of a public job posting, fetched November 1, 2026 and last changed by Stripe on October 29, 2026. Every list above is pulled from the posting’s own sentences — nothing rewritten, nothing added, no judgment about the role or the company. Counts and seniority are read off the text by rule, so they can be wrong where the posting is unusual. The original is the only thing that binds. Openings close without warning; check the source before spending an evening on it.
