Stripe operates within a complex and interwoven legal, regulatory, and financial partnership environment around the world.

What it asks for · 8

  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience either as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm or in-house legal team working with technology companies (ideally the law that applies to cloud-based API service providers) on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space
  • Passion for working with technology and ability to understand complex operational and business models as well as multiple product use cases quickly
  • A self-starter and self-learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple work streams and priorities simultaneously and efficiently
  • An owner’s mindset and high judgment, making principled, business-enabling decisions in highly ambiguous, fast-moving environments with incomplete information.
  • Strong communication and relational skills and ability to work well cross-functionally with a sense of urgency, while remaining highly collaborative and fun
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to stay on top of shifting priorities and thrives working under tight deadlines
  • Expertise in the legal, commercial, and regulatory dynamics of AI and tech services, including a command of global data privacy regimes (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Strategic thinking that enables business partners to make decisions that are grounded in a practical application of the law, the technology, and the business goals.

What the job covers

  • Counsel the global product team on a range of issues relating to the adoption of artificial intelligence in all facets of Stripe’s business, including data protection and privacy law, consumer protection, and product development.
  • Closely collaborate with teams across Stripe (including, engineering, partnerships, privacy and security teams) to deliver pragmatic and actionable legal advice to your clients on a range of issues related to the product development lifecycle - from initial scoping to launch
  • Draft, review, and update internal and external-facing foundational terms and documents for Stripe’s products and service offerings
  • Stay up-to-date (with the support of Stripe’s many legal subject matter experts) on laws and regulations dealing with consumer financial data access; analyze laws, regulatory updates, and industry trends to proactively advise clients of potential product impacts
  • Serve as a proactive business partner to your product team and build a trusted advisor relationship offering key legal and strategic business input in evolving Stripe and its product roadmap and strategy

How this page was made

An automated read of a public job posting, fetched November 2, 2026 and last changed by Stripe on October 29, 2026. Every list above is pulled from the posting’s own sentences — nothing rewritten, nothing added, no judgment about the role or the company. Counts and seniority are read off the text by rule, so they can be wrong where the posting is unusual. The original is the only thing that binds. Openings close without warning; check the source before spending an evening on it.
