As the Engineering Manager for Client SDKs, you'll build and lead the team that makes it easy for any team at Datadog to ship into those SDKs safely: fast CI, predictable releases, a shared spec across SDKs, and tooling that lets engineers and coding agents contribute without waiting on a review queue. It's a rare chance to own a developer platform that ships in public, at a scale where small decisions reach a lot of customers, and to shape how Datadog builds client-side products in the AI-native era. Both the team and its scope are expanding, so there's plenty of room to grow.

What it asks for · 5

  • Experienced in managing a team of software engineers, including senior engineers
  • Someone who has shipped and maintained SDKs, libraries, or developer tools that other engineers depend on
  • Strong in at least one of Mobile Platforms, including iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin) , or Browser (TypeScript), and able to hold a technical conversation about applications development.
  • Knowledgeable in release engineering, CI/CD, versioning, and backwards compatibility
  • Able to influence other teams without formal authority and build alignment across product teams

Also a plus

  • Open source maintainer experience, especially working with outside contributors
  • Experience with observability, crash reporting, analytics, or OpenTelemetry SDKs
  • Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native, Flutter, or Kotlin Multiplatform
  • Experience leading a platform or developer experience team
  • Experience using AI coding agents in your team's workflow

What the job covers

  • Build, lead, and grow a team of mostly senior software engineers, hiring well and helping senior and staff engineers grow their impact and careers
  • Own CI and test infrastructure across the SDK repositories: set health targets, detect and quarantine flaky tests, and provide test frameworks that engineers and coding agents can run locally
  • Define release cadences and help customers adopt updates, managing breaking changes in SDKs that can't be rolled back once they're installed in customers' apps
  • Keep SDKs consistent through a shared specification, and remove the review bottleneck so product teams can ship SDK changes without waiting on a small group of experts
  • Partner with product teams such as Session Replay, Product Analytics, and Feature Flags, along with our SDK guilds and server SDK teams, to guide SDK changes from design to release
  • Build feature sets for new product capabilities and bring that to all partner teams
  • Bring AI coding agents into how the team builds, tests, and ships, and take part in business-hours release, hotfix, and support escalation duty (no 24/7 pager)

How this page was made

An automated read of a public job posting, fetched November 7, 2026 and last changed by Datadog on November 6, 2026. Every list above is pulled from the posting’s own sentences — nothing rewritten, nothing added, no judgment about the role or the company. Counts and seniority are read off the text by rule, so they can be wrong where the posting is unusual. The original is the only thing that binds. Openings close without warning; check the source before spending an evening on it.
